That is what Prospecting and Mining for Gold has done for me and if you are at all "Like Me" this will work for you too. No matter where you live, you are likely reasonably close to a Gold Bearing Area. I live in Tennessee and never dreamed of being a Gold Prospector before learning the facts. In fact, I assumed all the gold in the United States was already mined. Well, that could not have been farther from the truth. Many geologists agree that less the 15 percent of the United States "Native Gold" has been mined. Some say even less then 5 percent. And I always assumed that this Country's Gold was all "Out West". Never in a million years would I have thought that Gold was practically in my backyard. Less then an hour away.
You see, several years ago, I was recuperating from thoracic surgery and by accident, found the Gold Fever show on the Outdoor Channel. I watched and taped every episode and soon realized this was something I could do. And the more I learned, the more fascinating it became. I took advantage of a special offer to join the GPAA (Gold Prospectors Association of America) and received a basic prospectors "kit" which included a book filled with places to go prospecting, a gold panning video and an assortment of fundamental prospecting tools. All for 65 dollars. This only increased my level of interest and soon I was reading every article, book and publication I could find on Gold Prospecting. And all the while I was going to these locations and actually finding Gold. Now back then gold was selling for a couple hundred dollars per ounce; but now it is over 16 hundred dollars per ounce and all that gold I found I kept. Imagine having close to forty ounces of gold in Today's Market. That's worth over 64 thousand dollars.
IN CONCLUSION, what a great way to get Outdoors, have fun, get some exercise and supplement retirement.
